Job Information

Partner with NPD project managers to attain business objectives for new product development. Enable cross functional teams from Product Management, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, and Sourcing to understand and make decisions regarding product margins, investment, cost targets, and expected margins early in the NPD process by providing insightful financial analysis. Ensure product costs are stated correctly and cost system is prepared for product launches. Monitor OSMI related to new product introductions and ensure reserves are established appropriately.

Role & Responsibility

Cost and Financial Analysis
  • Provide team with monthly analysis of actual spending vs. forecast and plan. Work with team on monthly variance explanations/analysis and assist forecast preparation.
  • Monitor and report impact from ECNs and product cost improvements.
  • Monitor OSMI reserve balances. Review, analyze, validate, and report inventory transactions related to OSMI.
  • Ensure New Product cost are established and validated. Assist in the annual standards setting process to ensure smooth transition to new product introductions and accurate overhead rate development.
  • Provide monthly analysis of purchased material variances related to new product pilots and prototype builds.

Motivate, Mentor, Develop, and Coach
  • Actively build positive relationships to understand and communicate drivers of financial performance.
  • Coach project managers on business case development.

New Product Development
  • Partner with Project Managers to develop and manage the business case for new product development projects.
  • Work with NPD teams to establish detailed performance and cost targets.
  • Analyze product profitability, identify areas of improvement and make appropriate recommendations as necessary.
  • Manage Early Product Cost to collaboratively estimate, track, and manage product costs early in the development cycle.


Job Requirement

  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Experience Required: 5>7 years progressive manufacturing finance and cost accounting experience
  • Travel Required: 10>24%
  • CMA or Masters a plus
  • Adjusts work assignments or schedules for self and others to meet changing work priorities
  • Defines an issue despite incomplete or ambiguous information
  • Effectively communicates complex issues, tailoring the message to a particular audience
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Powerpoint and in cost accounting systems such as Oracle

What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?

•Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
•These are entry level opportunities
•Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
•The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
•Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training. General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments.
