JOB SUMMARY

Oversees and manages the day-to-day functions and processes for designated area of specialty and acts as a resource for staff, including clinical and non-clinical roles. Focus areas within this role may include providing financial expertise, reporting, analysis, and leadership to support surgical services leadership in clinical, financial, billing, and operation decisions. Responsible to help manage vendors within the perioperative setting, including helping vendors adhere to policies and procedures, as well as implementing trials and conversions of products and services. Additionally, focus areas may expand to maintain and provide continuous leadership in the area of the operating rooms and surgical scheduling.Will assist leadership with the human, fiscal, clinical, operational, and quality management of the department. Flexible and creative in problem solving and demonstrates effective communication techniques. Maintain statistical and financial data, accounting subsidiary ledger, business analysis, special projects and support of information technology (IT) systems and operation improvement processes. Maintain departmental applications and designs process flows for implementation of changes, enhancements, and interfaces collaborating with information services to set realistic timeframes. Champions automated interface solutions, and provides oversight for information system implementation in areas of responsibility as delegated. Provides an efficient, effective, and accurate billing process in accordance with hospital financial service policies and in compliance with payers. Coordinates research needs and new services when applicable. Provides a source of support/counseling for the staff. Resource person to assist in all areas as needed. Coordinates all research needs and new services. Flexible and creative in problem solving and demonstrates effective communication techniques. Excellent problem solving, analytical, interpersonal, communication skills required. Ability to multi-task and work autonomously to meet deadlines is essential.Actively participate in tasks force, committees, staff meetings, etc. to assist with the department initiatives, implement goals, and organizational strategies. Manages the process in reviewing results of clinical and non-clinical performance assessments and recommends process improvements within own unit. Implements established performance improvement policies and trains employees on these policies. Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques and ability to create and support an environment that meets the quality goals of the organization. Assist with providing feedback in the collection and preparation of required budget information. Understand the critical components associated and required to achieve intended results and ability to generate consistent approaches for hiring, selection, retaining, and leveraging talent across the unit. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members. Trains others on main considerations and issues related to laws and regulations in the implementation of healthcare practices. Collaborate and actively participate in measuring employee performance. Practices positive collaboration and converts difficult interactions into productive ones. Seeks opportunities to help others learn as teacher, coach, and mentor. Maintains current certifications in specialty, continues education when necessary as well as tracks, and maintains for staff as needed.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyzes policy and standards documentation and ensures organizational compliance. Compares key metrics against benchmarks and goals so as to keep pace with improvement opportunities. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan. Determines individual and team competency requirements, vulnerabilities, and learning needs. Establishes and maintains productive working relationships within and outside of own area. Helps promote collaboration across generations, functions, regions, and levels. Leads and monitors the processes of demographic data collection and analysis; controls the capital costs. Leverages prior experience as a help towards handling changing situations. Performs quality control and maintains a high standard in relation to infection control mechanisms for patient safety. Promotes awareness within organization of relevant regulatory environment. Promotes organizational learning through knowledge management, training and development, and sharing key experiences.

DEPARTMENT DETAILS

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in in accounting, finance, or related business or healthcare field required. Masters degree preferred.Minimum of three years of experience related to financial reporting and analysis as well as extensive knowledge of financial systems, standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Computer skills include a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, report writing systems, and knowledge of databases. Prefer previous leadership/management experience.
