Job Details
Job Duties: We currently have two vacancies. Positions operate the online boiler system and its supporting equipment, make adjustments, perform tests, and take action as necessary to provide uninterrupted steam to the campus safely and efficiently. Hours of work are rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays. Shift times are 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m.- 10:00 p.m., and 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

A criminal background check will be completed on final candidates. The selected candidate must be able to pass a post-offer pre-employment screen, respirator and pulmonary test. A 12-month probationary period is required.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Basic mechanical knowledge/aptitude.
*Ability to work independently and with general supervision.
*Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in English with supervisor and co-workers.
*Analytic skills to diagnose and correct the cause of failures with equipment.
*Ability to pass essential job function physical screening.
*Ability to work days, nights, afternoons, weekends, and holidays.
*Ability to pass a respirator test and be willing to wear a respirator or air hood.
*Ability to pass a pulmonary test.
*Ability to exercise good judgement at all times.
*Ability to organize work tasks logically and efficiently.
*Ability to be punctual when relieving a shift.
*Ability to read and understand written procedures and manuals.
*Ability to recognize safety concerns and adhere to a safety program.
*Ability to work in confined spaces and in unpleasant conditions, including coal and coal ash dust.
*Ability to perform heavy manual labor including frequent lifting up to 50 or more pounds.
*Ability to diagram plant systems (water, steam. gas, fuel oil, air and blowdown lines)
*Must be able to work in a team environment.
*Ability to perform basic plant maintenance tasks using power and hand tools.
*Ability to operate a skid-steer loader.
*Knowledge of the function and operation of high pressure boilers and supporting equipment preferred.
*High pressure boiler license or certification preferred.
*Previous experience with firing natural gas, coal, and fuel oil boilers preferred.
*Forklift certification preferred
