The key responsibilities of this role are to operate and perform quality control functions to ensure a safe operating environment.

 

Standard Work Hours

This position generally works an eight-hour shift: Sunday evening through Friday 24/5. Occasional weekends or other shifts dependent on product demand (may change based upon business needs).

Compensation hourly; commensurate with experience  (wage range has been established by HR)

Job Responsibilities

  • Listens actively to acquire information and understand work procedures, becomes knowledgeable of all jobs in assigned area, and maintains operating conditions within the desired range with minimal supervision. 
  • Communicates all operational events/issues with appropriate individuals in a timely manner. 
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement throughout the operation and assists in the implementation of changes both in physical operations and written documents. 
  • Sets up equipment to accommodate minor processing changes. 
  • Optimizes operating practices within established parameters and troubleshoots a wide variety of operation events, at times with minimal supervision. 
  • Exercises job knowledge to independently perform job responsibilities and provides on the job training where necessary. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with all safety, regulatory, and GMP requirements. 
  • Becomes proficient in operations of manual and controlled processing equipment.
  • Comprehends and applies all required technical, regulatory and safety training to assigned jobs. 
  • Provides input on job procedures. 
  • Demonstrates ability to troubleshoot problem situations with minimal assistance. 
  • Under minimal supervision makes timely decisions to accomplish department goals under conditions of uncertainty while evaluating short and long-term consequences. 
  • Participates in the sharing of information to promote overall efficiency of production, attends and actively participates in meetings. 
  • Identifies potential safety and compliance issues. 
  • Housekeeping including regular work areas and storage areas
  • Take required samples and deliver them to the QA lab and communicate with the QA lab for results, test the product BRIX for solids content.
  • Communicate with previous shift, relief, supervision and other operators to exchange information on process conditions and other pertinent issues.
  • Informs supervision of any unusual changes in process conditions, mechanical or electrical failures or malfunctions, unsafe conditions, etc.
  • Responsible for checking equipment to make sure it is working properly, cleans out equipment periodically and prepares equipment for product change.
  • Compliance with all Safety, Environmental and Operating Standards
  • Report any Safety concerns to the Plant Manager as soon as they are identified
  • Ensure plant equipment is operating at maximum efficiency
  • General maintenance such as lubricating equipment and changing gaskets
  • Self-starter and effective communicator with the ability to interact with plant personnel on a daily basis.
  • Proven multi-tasking skills and the ability to work independently in a team environment.


Duties

  • Monitor equipment and manufacturing process and react appropriately to unanticipated conditions/intended action.
  • Understand, follow, and maintain department SOPs, guidelines, compliance and safety rules and procedures related to duties. 
  • Know proper established start up and shut down procedures.
  • Check inside of effects for buildup, and react accordingly to findings. (Inform supervisor of any problems during CIP of unit)
  • Inspect sifter screen, magnet and report to supervisor any concerns.
  • Test CIP solution strengths and log on CIP log.
  • Service pumps and valves as needed and/or per preventative maintenance.
  • Aid in the training of new personnel.
  • Immediately report any damage to supervisor, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning the equipment.


Minimum Job Requirements, Skills and Qualifications

  • Must have negative pre-employment and/or subsequent drug/alcohol test results.
  • Regularly attends work on time and as scheduled. Contacts supervisor/designee when delayed, sick or otherwise unable to be at work as scheduled.
  • Is knowledgeable of and complies with JRS USA LP’s handbook policies and procedures.
  • Displays a positive and respectful demeanor at all times towards fellow coworkers and maintains a positive company image.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently as well as work within a team environment. Demonstrates teamwork by cooperating with and assisting coworkers as needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to work under pressure, in stressful situations and with frequent interruptions.
  • Adapts well to change.
  • Read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to customers or other employees of JRS USA LP.
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. 
  • Apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Know proper established start up and shut down procedures.
  • Service pumps and valves as needed and/or per preventative maintenance, make flow plate adjustments as needed.
  • Aid in the training of new personnel.
  • Report immediately to supervisor of any damage, irregular activity, or unsafe conditions concerning the equipment.
  • The employee will regularly be exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles and noise.  
  • Occasional exposure to wet/humid, toxic/caustic chemicals, high places and heat/cold conditions also exist.

  • Forklift and walk behind electric pallet jack.
