POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The purpose of this position is to direct the cooking of all food prepared in the NCTC kitchen. The cook coordinator will also be responsible for developing and maintaining food safety monitoring procedures, menu planning and implementation, ordering and receiving, inventory management, training new and student employees and providing guidance to those employees when necessary. The cook coordinator will assist with food preparation and assist the supervisor with management decision for the department. Supervision is received from the Director of Facilities. This position will, in the absence of the Director of Facilities provide guidance to the department.

2. Responsibility: Food, material, equipment, and employee safety.
3. Responsibility: Provide training and guidance to new employees and student employees.
4. Responsibility: Assist in comprehensive management of Food Service Department including planning for the efficient flow of food, proper delegation of kitchen labor, providing guidance and direction to other workers in the kitchen and managing the kitchen in the absence of the supervisor.
5. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (expected to have to enter job):

Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
" One year of experience as a cook in a large restaurant, cafeteria, school, hospital, or equivalent experience in large volume cooking and food preparation; or completion of a 9- month or longer full-time vocational/technical school program in commercial cooking or commercial food preparation.
(NOTE: Completion of a 9 month or longer vocational/technical school program in commercial baking will substitute for 6 months of experience as a cook, as listed above.
OR
" Three years of experience as a baker in a commercial bakery, large restaurant, cafeteria, school, hospital, or equivalent experience in large volume baking.

Preferred Qualifications (desired but not expected to have to enter job)
" Experience training new and existing workers as well as students.
" Experience working with MSDS, OSHA, and Minnesota Department of Health procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
" Experience planning and preparing large catered events.
" Ability to collect payments, count money and make change for customers.
