JOB SUMMARY

Pharmacy Intern works in a medical center pharmacy environment consisting of unit dose dispensing, IV Admixtures, discharge prescriptions, computerized profiles, compounding and automated dispensing devices. The Pharmacy Intern is responsible for assisting the pharmacist staff in the provision of pharmaceutical care to the customers of Sanford by following established regulations, standards and practices (including the preparation of IV admixtures and chemotherapeutic agents). The Pharmacy Intern must possess the skills necessary for the understanding of written policies and procedures, perform various functions under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, and participate in departmental problem-solving when needed. Must demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills and be able to learn and utilize new technology as the profession of pharmacy evolves.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Our pharmacy provides infusion and retail pharmacy services to primarily oncology patients. Enjoy working with a high-performing team of pharmacists and technicians who work as part of an interdisciplinary team with nurses, physicians, and other health care providers. Duties include: - Compound chemotherapy and other specialty infusion products - Compound and dispense outpatient prescriptions for oncology patients - Inventory management - Computer order entry and data retrieval - Assisting pharmacist(s) with coordinating the day-to-day activities of the infusion pharmacy - Working in a fast-paced work environment in an infusion clinic setting - Coordinate filling and delivery of medications to patients in clinical areas and process payment Job Qualifications: Must maintain annual registration as a Pharmacy Intern through the respective State Board of Pharmacy. Additional Requirements: Excellent customer service skills, proficient in English language, capable of solving problems effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, and competent mathematical skills.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must maintain annual registration as an Undergraduate Pharmacy Intern through the respective State Board of Pharmacy. Must meet the minimum education requirements to be registered through the respective state board of pharmacy (requirements vary by state). In North Dakota, one year of full time college or university must be completed in a pre-pharmacy program. In Minnesota, one year must be completed in a professional pharmacy program (third year in school as the first 2 years are the pre-pharmacy courses).
