JOB SUMMARY

Greet all customers. Responsible for selling merchandise, cashier and inventory management in the gift shop. Duties may include opening, closing, ringing up sale purchases, handling money, assisting customers, delivering gifts to patient rooms, light merchandise stocking, visual merchandising the displays, and keeping gift shop clean. Operates helium tank. May check-in freight, determine retail pricing, and receive POS system inventory, which effects inventory management. Provide high level of customer service in assigned area. Provide support in the day-to-day activities of the gift shop. Communicate effectively with customers and co-workers. Experience in retail and sales. Able to handle money and experience with cash registers. Knowledgeable of basic computer skills including Microsoft Windows required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.
Sell to customers with a variety of different product needs.
Perform sales activities for most or all products available in diverse product lines and multiple markets.
Compute sales prices, total purchases, and receive and process cash or credit payment.
Place special orders or call other stores to find desired items.
Exchange merchandise for customers and accept returns.
Inventory stock and requisition new stock.
Clean shelves, counters, and tables.
Open and close cash registers, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
Use basic features of two or more Office applications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in customer service and sales desired. Must have knowledge of operating a cash register and making change. Must be able to provide work direction to volunteers. Must be proficient on Microsoft Office programs.
