  • Certification/Licensure/Registration within 90 days of start
    • JOB SUMMARY
      • The Mammography Technologist performs mammography exams and procedures; provide support services within the department when not performing patient procedures. The mammography technologist is to perform skilled radiography and special x-ray procedures of the breast.
    • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      • Education: Graduate of a two (2) year accredited radiologic technology program. Must be eligible to meet all MQSA regulations for mammography technologist.
      • Experience: N/A

      • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Registered Radiologic Technologist (R) from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within ninety (90) days of hire.

        Within ninety (90) days of hire, BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or Military Training Network.

    • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • Education: N/A
      • Experience: One (1) year of mammography experience.
      • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Mammography Registration (M) from ARRT.
    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

      • Ability to function well in stressful situations, exercise good judgment, accept responsibility, and carry out assigned tasks; wear lead protection for varying lengths of time; lift, move/transfer patients, records, or equipment. Knowledge of radiation safety practices.

        Work involves recognition of radiographic anatomy and pathology of the breast. The technologist will have knowledge of all dedicated mammography equipment. This includes taking and processing extremely high quality mammograms and mammography special procedures (needle localizations, biopsies, and galactograms). The responsibilities will also include operation of stereotactic equipment, digital equipment and the ability to perform diagnostic mammograms with high volume of specialty positioning and consultation with the radiologist.

      • READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
      • WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
      • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
      • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
      • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
      • AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES: Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
