    • JOB SUMMARY
      • The Coordinator of Nursing Education oversees the orientation process for all new hires and transfers in conjunction with the Managers, Clinical Supervisors, Staff Development Facilitators and Preceptors in the general nursing orientation process. Assists in assessing the educational needs of clinical areas and facilitates annual needs assessment. Acts as a resource for new staff. Collaborates with Nursing Leadership in the development of policies/procedures, implementation of new equipment in-services and education. Serves as an instructor for portions of the Skills Lab education as needed. In conjunction with respective schools, coordinates clinical schedules for nursing and respiratory therapy, and HUC students. Works with Nursing Leadership to plan, schedule and coordinate nursing mandatory education sessions. Provides co-leadership and guides the monthly SDF meeting. Mentors and assists staff development facilitators in assessing educational needs, developing unit based nursing competencies, reviewing certification classes and guiding employees through the self-registration process for initial certification classes. Plans, coordinates and teaches other educational programs as requested. Facilitates educational review process for LMS/NetLearning course development and assignment process.
    • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      • Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field.
      • Experience: Three (3) years clinical experience in Medical, Surgical or Critical Care.
      • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or Military Training Network.
    • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • Education: Master's Degree in health related field.
      • Experience: One (1) year previous clinical teaching experience.
      • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Certification in a nursing specialty area.
    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
      • Knowledge of the learning process, specifically adult education. Knowledge of teaching techniques and evidence of creativity. Knowledge of current nursing practices and the healthcare industry. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment and techniques. Knowledge of program planning, including needs assessment, content development, budget and evaluation. Knowledge of generally accepted personnel practices; knowledge of current legal parameters in nursing practice. Ability to develop and maintain open, flexible working relationships with staff. Ability to manage time wisely, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines and accept responsibilities; ability to understand and follow complex oral and written communications. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports; ability to exercise good judgment and accept personal responsibility.
      • READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
      • WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
      • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
      • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
      • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
      • AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES - Skilled at assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development. Provides appropriate care respective to the ages of the patients served per clinical environment.
