    • JOB SUMMARY
      • Third Party Biller/Collector is responsible for researching, correcting, updating erroneous or missing account numbers, insurance, guarantor or other medical information. Performs accurate billing or appropriate reconciliation of charges. Provides reports, documentation, and ongoing statistics as needed. All communications are conducted in a manner that will result in positive patient relations and prompt reimbursement for the hospital's services.
    • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
      • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Experience: Related experience working with automated systems and computer technology.
      • Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
    • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
      • Education: Associate's Degree.
      • Experience: At least one (1) year related. Experience and/or training in follow-up or collection technique, medical terminology, medical records coding and managed care reimbursement.
      • Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A
    • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
      • Knowledge of and experience in payment and coverage practices and terminology used by contracted payers, such as would be obtained with one (1) to two (2) years of retail credit and collections experience in a provider, or related, patient account office or carrier or fiscal intermediary claims or medical review responsibilities. Verbal and written communication skills as would allow for effective interaction with carriers and patients. Reading comprehension skills as would provide for a comprehensive understanding of the various payer agreements to which the hospital is bound. Knowledge of and experience in basic follow-up/collection techniques. Ability to organize and service large volume of information. Ability to write legibly, see, hear, read and speak English.
      • READING - Intermediate: Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
      • WRITING - Basic: Ability to write simple correspondence.
      • SPEAKING - Basic: Ability to speak simple sentences.
      • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
      • REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
