Overview

This is a full time, benefitted position working 72-80 hours per pay period. Days of work are Monday-Friday with hours from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

CNA: Provides nursing related tasks and functions under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. Assists patients with activities of daily living. Provides a safe, sanitary, orderly, and attractive environment for patients, hospital employees, and visitors. This position also assists with the responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the compression chamber system and supporting components. He/She will perform all therapeutic and diagnostic treatment modalities as ordered by the Hyperbaric Provider.

Unit Clerk: Under the supervision of the Lead Unit Supervisor, Unit Supervisor, Clinical Manager, or Registered Nurse, the unit clerk assists in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the activities occurring in the Unit by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers interdepartmental communications, equipment, specimens, supplies and medication as needed.
  • Assist on opening/setting up exam rooms and turning on computers at the start of shift.
  • Interacts with patients and visitors of all age groups while performing duties, while following the standards of behavior.
  • Communicates with nursing staff regarding patient's questions, concerns and needs, performing tasks as delegated.
  • Escorts patients to and from destinations.
  • Transports patients to and from the departments for special procedures.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe environment by reporting potential equipment or environmental hazards that are observed.
  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.
  • Provides personal hygiene measures for patients of all ages. Performance of nursing tasks shall consider the age and development of the patient.
  • Provides clean patient environment by changing bed linen, cleaning vitals machines, exam room chairs, beds and bedside counters, straightening room, and other related tasks as needed.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, and blood pressure and documents appropriately.
  • Performs routine treatment procedures including application of ice packs and other tasks delegated by nursing staff.
  • Answers patient call lights and anticipates patient's needs.
  • Assists patients with handling and care of clothing and other personal property (including dentures, glasses, contact lenses, hearing aids, prosthetic devices).
  • Transports specimens to the appropriate departments.
  • Assists in cleaning Utility Rooms; washes IV stands, wheelchairs, instrument carts, utensils, etc., with germicidal solutions and transports to proper area. Distributes supplies for storage on the unit.
  • Moves equipment and furniture for cleaning and rearrangement.
  • Establishes and maintains interpersonal relationships with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel, while assuring confidentiality of patient information.
  • Attends in-service education programs, as assigned, to learn new treatments, procedures, developmental skills, etc.
  • Assist with patient transfers and positioning for procedures and treatments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • HBO Tech: The Hyperbaric Technician, under the general supervision of the Hyperbaric Provider and the direct supervision of the Wound RN, will assume responsibility for the safe and effective operation of the compression chamber system and supporting components under of Healogics and hospital policies and procedures. He/She will perform all therapeutic and diagnostic treatment modalities as ordered by the Hyperbaric Provider.

UNIT CLERK
  • Performs clerical functions for the clinic within the Unit Clerk's scope of practice.
  • Answers telephone, takes messages, and communicates messages to the appropriate person utilizing email, in-basket, and verbal communication, while following standards of behavior.
  • Assists patients and visitors in clinic as needed. Interacts with all age groups including pediatric, adult, and geriatrics.
  • Orders supplies; receives and places items in their proper storage area.
  • Assists in scheduling surgeries and maintains record of tasks, within Outlook calendar, completed as well as communication of pre-operative arrangements/requirements.
  • Accesses chart review to obtain patient information pertinent to scheduling surgeries and ensure pre-operative arrangements/requirements are completed.
  • Maintains referrals and patient forms.
  • Assists in the coordination and set up of joint education class.
  • Transports patients to and from various departments as requested.
  • Keeps RN/LPN/MA or Manager informed of all activities and refers problems/situations to Manager for resolution.
  • Coordinates the completion of basic departmental tasks (maintenance, cleaning, stocking, clerical, etc.)
  • Sorts, opens, review, and distribute mail; responds to routing inquiries; coordinates incoming mail.
  • Utilizes in-basket to communicate with staff regarding patient's scheduling, needs and questions.
  • Performs a wide variety of typing assignments in a word processing system (minutes, forms, policies).
  • Other duties as assigned or requested with Unit Clerks scope of practice.


Qualifications

Work requires a high school level of knowledge. Must be certified as a Nurse Aide or have completed course work in a nursing or vocational program to satisfy requirements for placement on the ND Department of Health Nurse Assistant Registry. Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) preferred within one year of hire date.
