JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for educating, coaching and/or enrolling clients in personal health and wellness programs. Required to assist in the development of personal wellness programs and packages. Works directly with clients to develop personalized plans based on client need. Also provides community education classes on healthy behaviors and a healthy lifestyle in a variety of formats including large and small groups. Must be able to be accountable to tasks and work productivity. Must have a working knowledge of health promotion, behavior change and fitness. Has the knowledge and skill to develop a plan of exercise based on current client stage development. Requires the ability to adapt exercise instruction to various ages, fitness levels, limitations, and disease state. Must have the ability to engage and teach consumers, provide ongoing assessment of clients. Requires skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with clients, department team members and the public. Requires the ability to react calmly and effectively to emergency situations. Requires the ability to communicate clearly. Requires the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Requires the ability to be diplomatic and organized.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
DEPARTMENT DETAILS
Position works with children, youth, parents and women to provide health promotion programs and services. Bachelors degree in Health Promotions or related field preferred. Experience in working with community services is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current CPR certification. Certification from one of the following group fitness certification bodies required: ACE, AFAA, NETA (Formally NDEITA), IFA, Exercise Science Alliance, NASM, or any other certifying body approved by the department director. Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science or related field/certification related to field of exercise science.
