JOBSUMMARY

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for supporting the vision, strategy, and objective of Human Resources and the Total Rewards Center of Excellence (COE). Administer and maintain company benefit programs. Provide support to employees and Benefits Administration Specialists on benefit plan provisions. Administer the design, implementation and communication of employee benefits. Develop group benefit overview sessions and other employee benefit communications. Research discrepancies and find resolutions to issues escalated by the Benefits Supervisor and Benefits Administration Specialists. Process defined benefit pension plan calculations and final benefit paperwork. Complete QNEC's when required by plan provisions. Help evaluate and refine benefit processes and assist in the implementation of new benefit programs. Handle time off plans (i.e. PTO, vacation, sick, etc.). Assist with employee recognition activities. Conduct audits and respond to questions from external auditor (retirement, non-discrimination testing). Ability to deliver high quality customer service consistently in a professional manner. Ability to follow strict policy guidelines. Strong customer service focus. Strong interpersonal and listening skills. Ability to handle multiple customer service requests in a timely manner. Effective prioritization, follow-up skills and the ability to escalate issues when necessary. Attention to detail (particularly with entering data). Ability to follow standard operating procedures. General organizational skills as well as a general ability solve problems analytically. Strong communication skills and an ability to deal with ambiguity. Flexibility to accommodate staff scheduling changes, Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.

POSITIONRESPONSIBILITIES

Responds to day-to-day operational priorities while still making progress on project work. Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy. Develops and uses checklists to insure that information goes out error-free. Listens to feedback without defensiveness and uses it for own communication effectiveness. Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives. Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder. Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions. Prioritizes constantly while maintaining well-defined goals. Establishes and maintains productive working relationships within and outside of own area. Learns new concepts, processes and tools related to own immediate responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline. 1-3 years' experience in employee benefits.
