The Director of Behavioral Health Services provides strategic direction and operational leadership of Anne Carlsen residential and community-based Behavioral Health Services. This position will incorporate an approach to behavioral health services that meets organizational and regional community needs through multiple service lines capable of providing both direct service and consultation state-wide. Â He/she leads the team to support the behavioral health needs of clients and individuals receiving services and provides supports to the families, educators, community partners and other caregivers.

The position effectively advocates for client and family needs and secures the clinical competencies/credentials necessary to provide quality services and tap the appropriate funding mechanisms. Â He/she identifies, develops, and supports customer service, quality, safety and financial metrics and works closely with ACC Executive Leadership in the development of growth strategies, achievement of targets, and outcome improvement.

This position will meet the following minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, psychology or related human service field from an accredited college or university with two years of program administration experience. Â
  • Minimum of five years related experience.

Preferred/Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge, understanding, and training in the administration of behavioral health services in both residential and community-based services settings. Â
  • Effective skills in organization, supervision, leadership, and communication â€" both written and oral. Â
  • Ability to direct the work of others using effective problem-solving skills. Â
  • Adaptability to rapid change and ability to intervene promptly in crisis /emergency situations is essential.
  • Effective interpersonal skills; being tactful, courteous, and diplomatic with internal and external contacts. Â
  • Basic knowledge of the Vineland Assessment Scale, Supports Intensity Scale (SIS) and the Inventory for Client and Agency Planning (ICAP) used by the state of North Dakota to evaluate practical support requirements for persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities; must also have some knowledge/experience in personal outcome measures as administered by the Council on Quality and Leadership.
  • Ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using: email, word processing, and spread sheets, etc.
  • Understand and have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 10 environment and Office 365 Intranet and Internet technology. ÂÂ
  • Supports, interprets, implements, and communicates ACC, State, and Federal policies, procedures, laws, rules and regulations for the department. Â
