Hiring Department:    Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC)

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Details:   $85,000 plus per year, full-time, benefited, exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule:  Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.   Occasional travel is required.

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. The EERC offers opportunities in a positive and multidisciplinary environment to people with an exceptional work attitude, dedication to high professional standards, and commitment to personal development.
 
We are looking for an experienced, energetic, and imaginative senior scientist to contribute to the success of the EERC and its clients as we pursue problem solving related to advanced challenges in advanced power generation and chemical processes.
 
The selected candidate will perform one or more of the following functions:

  • Evaluate coal conversion and other chemical processes.
  • Use software packages to predict the fate of materials in chemical systems, mentor junior staff, constructively work with other groups at the center
  • Suggest, assist with, and prepare proposals to potential clients, manage client tasks and project
  • Report results to clients.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in chemistry or related science field.
  • 8 years of experience working for a company involved in coal conversion or chemical process engineering. Equivalent experience with service/consulting companies will also be considered.
  • Experience with software packages that predict fate of solid materials or trace elements in advanced energy systems.
  • Applicants may be required to deliver a presentation to interviewers during the interview.

  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in chemistry or related science field.
  • Experience with coal conversion and other chemical processes.
  • Experience with commercial scale advanced energy generation systems.
  • Experience designing or interpreting field or lab experiments for advanced chemical processes.
  • Experience working with industry and academia in the field of coal conversion.
  • Demonstrated technical writing ability, such as author or coauthor of published peer-reviewed articles or technical papers. Must Provide Examples.
