AGCO-Amity JV, LLC is accepting applications for a results-driven Safety Technician to join our team.  Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety Technician is an integral part of the leadership team.

Job Summary

Responsible for development, maintenance and implementation of Safety Programs, and coordination of Environmental, Worker’s Compensation and Return-to-Work programs with the ultimate goal of reducing injury occurrences and severity for AGCO-Amity JV, LLC and Amity Technology at both the Wahpeton and Fargo locations, respectively.


Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and implement workplace safety programs for both Fargo and Wahpeton operations to include: Safety Manual, Ergonomics, PPE, Fire Safety, Severe Weather alerts, etc.
  • Administer First Aid, CPR and AED programs, keeping adequate number of trained volunteers on-hand.
  • Provide technical assistance with OSHA issues.
  • Plan and coordinate safety and accident prevention training and fire/weather alerts.
  • Coordinate Workers Compensation program in conjunction with the Medical Department.
  • Chair the Safety Committee, providing guidance and leadership to maximize impact on operations.
  • Maintain Safety Procedure Manual, updating and writing new procedures when applicable.
  • Be primary contact with OSHA for inspections, questions, etc.
  • Coordinate all Workplace Safety activity with Department Managers.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Department to ensure appropriate recording of work related injuries and illnesses as well as discuss preventative measures.
  • Conduct incident investigations and provide recommendations for corrective actions to manufacturing managers and supervision.
  • Conduct audits and provide recommendations for hazard elimination, and ensure implementation of corrective action.
  • Track, trend, and analyze data to drive improvements and overall safety performance to minimize incidents.
  • Perform training for specific safety topics including new employee orientation.
  • Champion for safety improvement throughout entire operation.
  • Attend appropriate seminars, schools, meetings conducted by professional organizations to increase knowledge of regulatory issues and requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Managing compliance with OSHA’s General Industry
    Standards.
  • Managing the safety process to prevent and eliminate incidents and illnesses at the facility.
  • Participate and review incident investigations and prevention efforts in accordance with the GSI Incident
    Investigation Program.
  • Act as an information resource to management by providing leadership for all aspects of the safety program.
  • Conduct and review safety evaluations of all areas of the facility for hazard prevention and control.
  • Ensure all required reports are accurate and completed as necessary.
  • Provide training and leadership for employees, in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Support and assist in coordination of positive safety awareness programs.

Essential skills

Education (Preferred)

  • A 4-year degree in Industrial Hygiene, Workplace Safety or equivalent. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • MUST have a thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations.
  • 2+ years of experience required in workplace safety with proven record of achievement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Communicate in an effective, professional manner to facilitate teamwork.
  • Team player with the ability to provide leadership for change and improvement.
  • Ability to create buy-in and drive cultural changes with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving, time management, and project management skills.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate a positive work attitude.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports however is responsible for leading the Safety efforts of approximately 100 hourly and salaried employees.

Work Environment

This job generally operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The employee is also exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the work environment. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands or arms.

The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

Travel

Frequent weekly travel between Fargo and Wahpeton is expected with minimal overnight travel anticipated for this position.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications (Preferred)

OSHA 10 or 40 hour certification

Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
