Job Description: Provides therapeutic services and diagnostic services to patients and families. This is to include but is not limited to individual, group, and family therapy, mental health intakes and assessments, diagnostics, and coordination of treatment services for the patient. May be required to provide Minnesota DHS Clinical Supervision requirements as required for Partial Hospitalization Programs.

Education Qualifications:
Master degree in social work or psychology.

Current State Social Work Licensure. Licensed as an LICSW if practicing in Minnesota. Licensed as an LCSW if practicing in North Dakota or Wisconsin. In other states, must be certified or licensed as required by the state in which practice occurs for the purpose of reimbursement.

Seeking a full-time 1.0 FTE Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) to be shared between our Behavioral Health and Cancer Center teams at our South University Campus in Fargo, ND. Our recently developed and growing Behavioral Health team utilizes best practice methods to provide an environment that is engaged, innovative, value-driven and proactive in the care of our patients in collaboration with our primary and specialty care teams. Our Cancer Center team offers a collaborative approach to patients and their families in a friendly and engaging environment. All providers will work closely together (including primary and specialty care providers) and have the same goal of assisting patients with a variety of services related to mental health.

  • 1.0 FTE, full-time position (shared as 0.8 FTE in Behavioral Health and 0.2 FTE in Cancer Center)
  • Monday-Friday 8a-4:30p
  • Based at South University Campus in Fargo, ND
  • Average of 7 outpatients (no inpatient responsibilities)
  • LCSW license required; LICSW required within 3 years of hire
  • Adult & Pediatric Patient Populations
  • Management of psychosocial aspects of chronic and acute diseases.
  • Application of behavioral principles to address lifestyle and health risk issues.
  • Consultation and co-management in the treatment of mental disorders and psychosocial issues


Job Functions:
  • Assists the primary care provider in recognizing, treating and managing mental health and psychosocial issues and acts as a contributing member to the primary care team;
  • Conducts client intakes, focusing on diagnostic and functional evaluations, then makes recommendations to the primary care provider concerning the clients' treatment goals and plan;
  • Provides consultation and training to the primary care providers to enhance their skill and effectiveness in treating mental health problems;
  • Gives primary care providers timely feedback regarding client's care, treatment recommendations and progress via documentation in the client's record and verbal feedback;
  • Assists, to the extent feasible, in the clients' community functioning by helping with public benefits, vocational rehabilitation, social support, housing, etc.
  • Appropriately documents the clients' progress and diagnostic information in the treatment chart to sync with EMR interface and billing


Candidate Qualifications:
  • Has excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence based treatments for medical and mental health conditions.
  • Has ability to work through brief client contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions.
  • Is comfortable with the pace of primary care, working with an interdisciplinary team, and has strong communication skills.
  • Has good knowledge of psycho-pharmacology.
  • Has the ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected chronic conditions.


EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:
  • Graduate of an accredited program and licensed/ability to obtain license in state of ND.
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
