Reports To: Store Director, Assistant Store Director
PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Grocery department plans and management responsibilities to promote sales and achieve profit margins, in addition to providing a positive environment for our customers and associates.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to coordinate the Grocery department plans and management responsibilities to promote sales and achieve profit margins, in addition to providing a positive environment for our customers and associates.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assists customers during their shopping experience
- Greet, Offer, & Thank all customers
- Prompt response to customer concerns
- Ability to perform duties of grocery and receiving clerks
- Recording and reporting customer requests
- Ability to show customers where products are located
Functional Requirement:
- Physical: walking, bending, kneeling, able to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weighing up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (intercom, telephone, scanner, register, scale)
- Mental: judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, & math
Maintaining a neat and organized store appearance
- Facing forward product in the aisles and displays
- Ensures aisles are clear of debris at all times
- Cleaning shelves and racking as needed
- Compacts cardboard, stacks pallets, stores and organizes overstock
Functional Requirement:
- Physical: walking, bending, kneeling, able to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weighing up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (cardboard baler, garbage compactor, box cutter, pallet jack, shopping cart, ladder)
- Mental: judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, & math
Daily supervision of store policies and procedures
- Develop effective daily/weekly work plans
- Adherence to Hornbacher's Food Safety Practices
- Utilize sales projections, budgeted labor goals, & previous operating results to optimize store performance
- Providing performance reviews to grocery department associates
- Providing training and development opportunities for store associates
- Calling in maintenance requests for grocery department issues
- Manage the department receiving, invoices, pricing, and inventory to ensure proper product control and that gross profit goals are met
- Supervising, ordering, scheduling, and being responsible for the overall condition of the department
Functional Requirements:
- Physical: walking, bending, kneeling, able to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weighing up to 50 lbs., equipment operation (pallet jack, box cutter, shopping cart, ladder, computer, phone, intercom, Telzon, cardboard baler, garbage compactor)
- Mental: judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, memorization, reading, writing, & math, analyzing and planning, basic business acumen, and attention to detail
People management skills
- Training and development of associates to ensure competence in assigned tasks and to develop for advancement
- Managing performance of associates
- Recognizing coaching opportunities and utilizing skills to encourage growth
- Encouraging active participation and cooperation within the store
- Encourage individual & group effort toward providing the best service possible

Experience
- 2-3 years supervisory experience preferred
- Retail experience preferred
