PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to assist and learn the Meat Department plans and management responsibilities to promote sales and achieve profit margins, in addition to providing a positive environment for our customers and associates.

Reports To: Meat Department Manager
PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to assist and learn the Meat Department plans and management responsibilities to promote sales and achieve profit margins, in addition to providing a positive environment for our customers and associates.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assists customers during their shopping experience
- Greet, Offer, & Thank all customers
- Prompt response to customer concerns
- Ability to perform duties of meat cutters & clerks
- Recording and reporting customer requests
- Ability to show customers where products are located
Functional Requirement:
- Physical: walking, bending, kneeling, able to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weighing up to 75 lbs., equipment operation (intercom, telephone, scanner, register, scale)
- Mental: judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, knowledge of weights and measurements, memorization, reading, writing, & math
Maintaining a neat and organized store appearance
- Ensures floors are clear of debris at all times
- Cleaning shelves, cases, and racking according to cleaning schedule
- Compacts cardboard, stacks pallets, stores and organizes overstock
- Maintains the eye-appeal of the department
- Breaking down loads and dating product
Functional Requirement:
- Physical: walking, bending, kneeling, able to reach, lift, stack and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weighing up to 75 lbs., equipment operation (cardboard baler, garbage compactor, box cutter, pallet jack, shopping cart, ladder, knives, wrappers, scales)
- May occasionally be exposed to temperatures of approximately -20 F - 35 F while handling products in freezers, coolers and display cases. Most of the work is performed in a temperature-controlled store environment.
- Mental: judgment/decision making, social skills/verbal interaction, knowledge of weights and measurements, memorization, reading, writing, & math
Daily supervision of store policies and procedures
- Develop effective daily/weekly work plans
- Adherence to Hornbacher's Food Safety Practices
- Utilize sales projections, budgeted labor goals, & previous operating results to optimize store performance
- Providing performance reviews to meat department associates
- Providing training and development opportunities for store associates
- Calling in maintenance requests for meat department issues
- Manage the department receiving, invoices, pricing, and inventory to ensure proper product control and that gross profit goals are met
- Supervising, ordering, scheduling, and being responsible for the overall condition of the department
Functional Requirements:

- May occasionally be exposed to temperatures of approximately -20 F - 35 F while handling products in freezers, coolers and display cases. Most of the work is performed in a temperature-controlled store environment.

Experience
- 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred
- Meat department experience preferred
- Food Safety Certification
