Job Summary

This is an opportunity to join the Experimental Engineering team which is tasked with the development of new components and technologies intended for evaluation on next generation aircraft. The primary responsibility of the Experimental Fabrication Sheet Metal Technician will be to fabricate parts, assemblies, and systems with a variety of materials, processes, and equipment. This position places a premium on the individual to be constantly learning new methods, application of new industry technologies, and providing long term value to the company. The individual must be self-motivated, have a high degree of integrity, strong verbal skills, and be very comfortable working with a highly diverse cross functional team.

Essential Duties:

Possess a broad skillset used to fabricate high precision aircraft parts
  • Work from mental concepts, verbal instructions, hand-sketches, or blueprints
  • Select methods and materials to ensure the part meets the final design criteria
  • Envision the full process of the build - layout through completion
  • Must have the ability to fabricate to print and verify accuracy using precision measuring instruments
  • Properly use hand and power tool as well as operate brake, shear, shrinker/stretcher
  • Use a variety of manual and pneumatic riveting equipment: squeezes, guns, and bucking bars
  • Safely use lathes, milling machines, grinders, sanders, etc
  • Collaborate with a wide audience to develop technologies and designs
  • Possess strong creative mind and extreme attention to detail

Education and/or Experience

5-7 years of combined schooling and industry experience. Aerospace or manufacturing sheet metal fabrication, Industrial or Machine Technology degrees preferred.

Additional consideration will be given to the candidate who possess knowledge of CNC press brake programming and operation.

Certificates or Licensures:

Airframe & Powerplant and welding certificates considered a plus.

Computer Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is a must. Knowledge of CAD-CAM software (PTC Creo) is preferred.
