Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant I

The Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant I performs assigned daily tasks; completes order transcription, order computer entry and order communication; obtains, maintains, and completes all required reports, and performs report related processes, chart entry, chart maintenance and filing; performs chart and procedural admission, transfer and discharge procedures; manages requests by priority from the nurse call system, telephone system, fax system, internal and external customers and staff, and functions of a Nursing Assistant I as delegated. Patients cared for include infants, children, adolescent, adult and geriatric.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED :

Required:

• High school graduate or the equivalent.

• Education beyond high school in a health care field of study, (i.e., Medical Secretary, Health Unit Coordinator, Certified or Registered Nurse Assistant, etc.) or equivalent work experience in a health care related area.

• Certified by the North Dakota State Department of Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant or

• Registration by North Dakota Board of Nursing as a Nurse Assistant or an Unlicensed Assistive Person or

• Those who have in the past never been licensed or certified as a Nurse Assistant or Unlicensed Assistive Person or a Certified Nurse Aide may obtain registration by the North Dakota Board of Nursing as an Unlicensed Assistive Person within the first six (6) weeks of employment by completion of a return demonstration.
