POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Material Planning will lead the production planning team and implement key business processes and systems functionality improvements. The Director is responsible for the oversight of the master production schedule to ensure alignment with the Sales, Inventory, and Operations (SIOP) consensus plan. Working closely with operations leaders, material planners, and others to coordinate manufacturing plans that achieve the company objectives relative to customer service, efficient capacity utilization and working capital management.

The Director will also lead transformational change to our supply chain process, focused on leveraging the full capability of our ERP system, automating material planning processes and implementing Kanban inventory management processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Effective leadership of a series of cross-functional meetings through the SIOP process.
  • Serve as a factory subject matter expert (SME) for ERP production planning and scheduling modules.
  • Lead the SIOP process to a detailed master production schedule (MPS) with a 12-18 month planning horizon into the ERP system for MRP generation.
  • Ensure that data integrity of ERP planning parameters is maintained. Parameters such as lead times, lot sizes, safety stocks, delivery times, and order file data for all master scheduled Items.
  • Leads the planning and scheduling functions in order to satisfy customer requirements and provide a smooth production flow through work centers.
  • Leads material requirement plans in order to maintain requested quantities and schedules. Monitors/reports inventory levels of WIP and raw stock. Maintains inventory levels to required production schedules.
  • Create and publish daily/weekly/monthly factory schedule adherence, capacity, and inventory reports.
  • Identification and resolution of Constraints - Capacity, Resource & Material.
  • Facilitates long term capacity assessment and development of countermeasure/action plans.
  • Conducts a demonstrated lead-time analysis and measures gap to published lead times.
  • Data analysis and reporting of key performance indicators such as: delivery performance, backlog, performance to master schedule and inventory turns.
  • Drives continuous process improvement, strives to improve efficiency, likely to challenge processes where favorable alternatives may be available.
  • Timely management of exception messages generated by the ERP system.
  • Provide training on master production scheduling procedures and processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • BS/BA degree in Business or Supply Chain required, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of directly related experience.
  • APICS Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) required or hiring commitment to obtain in first 18 months of employment.
  • Experience in operations, inventory management, MRP and lean manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with visual management systems.


KEY COMPETENCIES:
  • Expert level understanding of MRP and the related systems to administer.
  • Experience in establishing Kanban inventory management processes.
  • Experience in leading SIOP cross functional meetings.
  • Strong presentation skills and business acumen. Ability to concisely communicate at all levels within the organization and externally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership ability, and the ability to manage the requirement of others.
  • Data access/retrieval skills with extensive experience in data analysis, data manipulation using MS Excel and/or other tools as provided.
