Job Summary:

Designs new airframe primary and secondary structural components; including preliminary design concepts, research and investigation, 3 dimensional models and production engineering drawings.

Supervisory Responsibility:

None

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
  • Generate and develop CAD models (CREO/Pro E) and drawings related to composites and metal structures, flight controls systems, and seat structures.
  • Troubleshoot installation and quality issues, and making corrective design changes.
  • Produce preliminary cost and weight estimates, along with preliminary structural analysis.
  • Responsible for mockup development, design reviews, and design documentation.
  • Create certification test plans and reports, and manage related testing and data.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, marketing, and manufacturing.

Qualifications:
  • CAD experience (CREO preferred)
  • PDM/PLM experience (Winchill preferred)
  • Drafting/GD&T experience
  • Experience with FAA Part 23 certification requirements preferred
  • Design experience with composites and/or molded panels is a plus

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum 4-year Degree and experience in engineering discipline with at least 2 years of design experience.

Demonstrated Proficiencies/Skills/Abilities:
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Familiarity with aircraft or automotive design and certification constraints is desired.
  • Working knowledge of structural design and analysis.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft systems and structures.
  • Proficiency with CAD, PDM, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Ability to provide technical leadership, guidance and decision making.
