Job Summary

The Proposal Writer/Editor manages and successfully edits, writes, and researches to effectively convey solution, capabilities, and differentiators. This position coordinates with subject matter expert ranging from operational staff to executive staff to gather information and develop understanding of key capabilities and solutions. This position reviews, edits, and proofreads external facing materials and coordinates with executives and managers, graphic designers, operational staff, and other employees to enhance communication of key messages in various media.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Researches, interviews, and writes marketing materials and proposals.
  • Applies broad knowledge of the corporation to write, edit, and direct content development.
  • Works directly with subject matter experts, management, and executives to identify win strategy and messaging tailored to a target audience.
  • Interviews internal and external resources to understand business capabilities and differentiators to develop strong response materials.
  • Interprets complex information and writes per target audience.
  • Constructs complete and compelling materials to differentiate the organization's capabilities while accurately conveying the organization's offering.
  • Edits written documents and provides ideas, suggestions, and concept development to enhance internal/external publications including recommendations for most effective means for conveying corporate messages to target audiences.
  • Edits documents to include updates to structure, application of messaging, alignment with other materials, and incorporation of differentiators.
  • Proofreads materials from across the organization to improve readability for distribution to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), potential partners, and other external organizations.
  • Performs internet-based research to support response efforts.
  • Manages the planning, development, and delivery of assigned projects.
  • Determines objectives and purpose to ensure tasks support corporate goals and objectives.
  • Works with management to establish project requirements, deliverables, and deadlines.
  • Establishes priority for project tasks and works with resources to assure understanding of priorities and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Identifies obstacles/deviations/delays and assigns task(s) to address the issues.
  • Regularly communicates project status and clearly reports on any deviations to delivery timeline.
  • Facilitates sessions to collect information from subject matter experts while applying healthcare operational knowledge to solicit relevant discriminators and accurately and persuasively document business capabilities.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Mass Communications, or related field
  • 2 years' related work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work under time pressure


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Persuasive writing and marketing experience
  • Grant or proposal writing experience for state or federal procurements
  • Working knowledge of healthcare industry and company capabilities
  • Experience with proposal writing software (e.g. Privia)

  • Office Environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping
  • Infrequent travel up to 15%
