Job Details
Job Title: Mechanical Design Technician Department: Mechanical Engineering Position Objective:
• Through the practice of servant leadership; enhance people's lives; detail the mechanical design of packaging equipment, and be engaged in a culture of continuous improvement to safely deliver quality, best value products and services, on time, to internal and external customers.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist Mechanical Designers on projects
• Provide support to the manufacturing floor
• Produce drawing and document packages for outsourced machined parts
• Facilitate good relations with outsource machining vendors
• Detail mechanical parts and produce sheet metal prints for machine projects
• Provide support to the Aftermarket Service department
• Problem solving
• Support continuous improvement efforts
• Assist with training of internal and external customers
• Recommend and implement up-to-date processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs
• Communicate openly, share knowledge, build positive collaboration between departments and team members
• Support and contribute to department and company metrics
• Be actively engaged in continuous improvement projects and culture
General Responsibilities:
• Adhere to, support and promote the Aagard vision and culture statements
• Demonstrate professional, respectful interaction with other team members
• Accurately and professionally represent Aagard to customers and vendors
• Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
• Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Mechanical Drafting, Mechatronics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Ability to draw and detail CAD drawings and operate CAD software
• Understanding of machinery fabrication and assembly environments
• Understanding of mechanical principles
• Knowledge of blueprint reading
• Experience with Microsoft Office products
• Experience or training with computers and ability to learn and use Aagard specific software
• Proficient keyboarding skills
• Observant with attention to detail
• Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external customers verbally and in writing
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user friendly language
• Ability to lift, push, pull up to 50 lbs
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl or climb
• Must be highly safety conscious
• Ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to take action and be proactive
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Passion for excellence
• Value and build a culture of measurement
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
