*This position could work out of any of our district offices including Grand Forks, Fargo, and Bismarck.


The Key Account Manager is responsible for retaining and expanding Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota's (BCBSND) largest, most complex and visible customer accounts. This position has responsibility for demonstrating the Company's value proposition to its clients through strategic business account planning for each assigned account while meeting customer expectations and ensuring customer satisfaction. In addition, this role will be accountable for offering the entire range of Company products and services available.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Retains assigned group of accounts by demonstrating value and professionalism, meets/exceeds customer needs and strategically plans, negotiates and influences the interactions and relationships with customers, their broker/consultant and internal team members to achieve strategic account goals.
• Prepares, presents and sells renewals either directly or in collaboration with consultants or brokers, providing benefit plan and financial alternatives. Develops and implements effective retention strategies and additional opportunities either directly or in collaboration with consultants or brokers and responds to formal request for proposals (RFP).
• Establishes and executes annual group business plans.
• Serves as the client advocate, providing trend information and tracking solutions and performance. Develops and maintains a detailed knowledge base of customers to become an extension of the customer's business by providing insightful advice and education.
• Provides consultative plan management throughout the year. Proactively assesses, clarifies and validates client needs on an ongoing basis and incorporates group customer values when creating the business plan, coordinates the involvement of Company personnel, including support, service, and management resources in order to meet group account performance objectives and customers' expectations.
• Creates sales opportunities identifying up-selling opportunities with existing customers.
• Develops, presents and closes the sale and responds and follows-up with RFP's and request for information (RFI).
• Maintains and consistently improves knowledge level of the industry, competitors and competitive products and services.

Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Required: Bachelor's Preferred: Bachelor's Field(s) of Study: Business, Communication, Marketing or related field

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Required: Minimum of 3 Years Preferred: Minimum of 3 Years Experience Details: Minimum of 3 years of consultative selling experience for key or large/complex accounts within the insurance industry is required; medical insurance, account management or operations experience is preferred.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURES & REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS Title: Must have or obtain Insurance Producer License within 3 months of hire and maintain continuing education requirements annually. State or Agency: ND
