Job Information

This position's activities are focused on strategic safety and incident-prevention initiatives to help support the day-to-day operations of the Gwinner facility.

Along with the EHS Team, this position will help to develop, coordinate, and administer Environmental, Safety, and Health programs.

Responsible for oversight, implementation, and internal auditing of the facility's compliance 14001 & 18001 Standards.

Works with departments, including employees at all levels of the organization, to find and resolve safety issues & ergonomic concerns

Role & Responsibility

Strategic Safety
  • Maintain and implement Facility's compliance with 14001 & 18001 Standards
  • Maintain certifications: ISO/OHSAS certification compliance
  • Compliance audits:
    • Support all compliance audits and lead the audit process
  • Maintain permits to operate
  • Oversee Environmental, Health, and Safety Inspections (EHS) in the facility in conjunction with area supervisors.
  • Coordinate EHS Training:
    • Coordinate and conduct all annual safety and environmental training and recertification facility-wide, including Powered Industrial Vehicles.
  • Administration of the Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Assist with Return to Work Program. Work with medical professionals to assess health risks and develop ways to manage health issues and concerns.
  • Maintain record keeping for EHS department:
    • Document control and retention.
    • Manage the Policy and Procedure Manual, along with working with process owners for its annual review and update needs, in addition to coordinating employee awareness/training.
    • Track job hazard analysis.
    • Organize industrial hygiene annual testing and provide individual results to employees tested.
    • Work with Manufacturing facilitators and team leads to maintain all employee safety-training records and ensure consistency throughout the facility.

Incident Prevention
  • Work in conjunction with the facility's management to complete risk and safety assessments.
  • Manage Job Hazard Analysis Program
  • Manage Corrective Action Program
  • Complete Hazard Assessments
  • Work in conjunction with the facility's management and OHS Nurse to lead safety teams including accident investigation

Compliance
  • Manage industrial hygiene: Investigate the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust equipment, lighting, and other conditions that could affect employee health, comfort or performance.
  • Ergonomics: Manage corrective actions. Provide or seek out ergonomic recommendations. Pursue and assist with cell update and equipment improvements.
  • Aid in emergency responses


Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree - Environmental Science and Technology; Engineering - General; Business Administration, or other job-related field required.
    • An emphasis in Environmental Health and Safety preferred.
  • OSHA Related Certificates
  • Knowledge of applicable safety laws (ie - OSHA, EPA etc)
  • Experience with BSI audits preferred
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong communication skills (active listening, oral comprehension, written comprehension, ability to communicate information and ideas verbally) across all levels of the organization
  • PC skills, Excel, Oracle, Power Point
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Values integrity, teamwork and attention to detail
  • 1-5 years experience
  • Less than 10% travel

What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?

•Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
•These are entry level opportunities
•Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
•The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
•Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training. General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments.
