Mailroom Lead

The Forum is hiring a full-time Mailroom Lead. This position will work days Monday - Friday and is responsible for leading daily operations in the mailroom in the assembly and preparation of our newspapers. Other duties include:

• Determine work procedures, assign work, and expedite workflow for Mailroom employees in absence of Mailroom Supervisor or Manager.
• Operate, repair and maintain the SLS 2000 inserter, ink jet labelers, stackers, electric floor jacks, plastic wrap and tiers.
• Clean, inspect and maintain floor conveyors, inserter conveyors, tiers and stackers.  Inspect and repair overhead belts and wires on conveyors.
• Work on floor conveyor lines, counting the units within a bundle.
• Repair bundles of printed matter and place/stack on pallets.
• Operate electric floor jack to move skids of printed material.
• Feed strapping, plastic wrap and bottom wrap machines.
• Assist in staging mailroom equipment before production runs.
• Load various feed stations on the inserting machine.  Occasionally insert by hand.
• Stack down/palletize products as they are run off the press.
• Prepare minimum bundle sizes and bag mail.
• Count and top bundles on conveyor lines.
• Occasionally responsible for housekeeping duties.
• Abide by all OSHA regulations and the lockout/tagout program, as well as other established company safety policies.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Computer, electrical and mechanical experience preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to other employees of the organization.
