Job Information

This position is responsible for the management of the health and welfare and retirement income plans for all employees within the company; including North America and Canada. This includes all active (union and non-union),inactive employees, term vested and retirees.

Role & Responsibility

Process Management
  • Monitors processes to ensure efficient operations, measures performance, drives process improvements.
  • Plan and execute annual enrollment with third party benefit administrator.

Manage Benefit Administration
  • Manage and administer all health & welfare plans and/or retirement security plans for active (including union), disabled and retired employees.
  • Maintain integrity of HR/payroll data, recordkeeping systems, processes and reports. •Manages administration issues and resolution, including root cause analysis and implementation of identified changes. Leads benefit system development and changes.
  • Leads open enrollment process (changes, updates, communications, etc).
  • Keeps abreast of gov’t regulations and maintains compliance with all legal requirements, including plan document review, compliance, communications.

Vendor and third party relationships
  • Collaborate with team to manage benefit carriers, vendors and third party administrators to meet the business needs and implement strategies that are both cost effective and that deliver the highest quality of customer service to the participants.
  • Interface with third-party administrators and carriers to resolve claims issues and provide guidance in policy interpretation.
  • Assist in the development and negotiation of contract renewals, design changes and enhancements with vendors. Support bill payments and financial tracking.
  • Maintain customer relationship with all business partners.


Job Requirement

  • Education required: Bachelor's degree in business administration
  • Experience required: 7-10 years
  • Travel required:
  • Working knowledge of health and welfare plans and/or retirement security plans
  • Knowledge of benefits acctg and financial analysis
  • Working knowledge of payroll & benefit systems (SAP), and vendor interfaces
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of shared services model
  • Commitment to customer service and education
  • Demonstrated ability in MS Office; specfically Word, Excel and PowerPoint

What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?

•Education Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
•These are entry level opportunities
•Must be able to follow established methods and procedures and perform work accordingly. Must have the ability to work rapidly and under time pressure for extended periods of time in order to meet build requirements. Must possess the ability to read build sheets and blueprints.
•The ability to communicate with supervisors and fellow workers in both written and verbal forms at a level normally acquired through the completion of a high school diploma or GED is required.
•Job specific skills, techniques and safe work and equipment operating practices are learned through on-the-job and classroom training. General instructions are given on recurring duties, operations and assignments; detailed instructions are given on new duties, operations and assignments.
