About the Job
This is an on call position at our Nelson Gables facility.
Scope:
• Provides assistance in all dietary functions as directed and instructed by the Culinary Supervisor in accordance with established federal, state and local dietary regulations. • Creates a pleasant atmosphere in the dining room by providing quality food and service. • Works primarily in the dining room/kitchen area. • Has frequent contact with staff and residents.
Key Responsibilities:
• Dining Room Service - Maintain good relationships with the residents and guests. Assist with seating and ensure there are seats available when they arrive for dinner. Assist residents who need help in selecting their meals. Responsible for menus, charge tickets, and dining room service forms. Use good judgement in serving food with proper portion control. Review and promptly report to Culinary Supervisor all resident concerns, comments or questions. • Safety and Sanitation - Responsible for setting/clearing tables and arranging seating, setting flatware, napkins, and condiments in dining room. Ensure cleanliness and condition of all china and flatware. Ensure glasses and coffee cups are free of water spots and stains. Responsible for cleaning dining room between and after meal service. Responsible for gathering soiled items from tables, carts, trays and satellite dining areas and performing dish and utensil washing. Responsible for maintaining and organization of clean dishes by putting them away in proper locations. Assist in cleaning tables and chairs, vacuuming dining areas, and sweeping and mopping kitchen floor areas. Perform all daily tasks in accordance with established sanitary, safety and infection control policies and procedures. • Other Duties as Assigned - Look for and report and any items in need of repair to the Culinary Supervisor. Use applicable infection control procedures. In the event of a fire or emergency, assist with resident evacuations. Attend in-service trainings and other work related meetings as required or approved. Carry out special projects as identified. Help with other areas of the building as needed. Education and Experience Required:
• Work experience in a service-orientated profession preferred but not necessary. • Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately. • Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards the elderly is essential with the ability to work with a variety of residents with differing values, attitudes, capabilities, and dispositions. • Ability to work effectively as a team and independently. • Able to physically perform the duties required by the position. • Required to have the ability to read, write and speak English well enough to communicate with staff, residents and visitors.
