POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for generating deposit new business opportunities. This includes coordinating prospecting efforts, developing new business with existing customers and supporting the treasury management services fulfillment process. The position works closely with the Relationship Managers, Market President, Director of Deposits, and the Treasury Management Lead. The focus of this position is to call on prospective clients to establish new Alerus deposit banking relationships.



Essential Responsibilities:

Job Function Number 1: New Business Development. 50%
  • Assist in market strategy development and set sales objectives for Treasury Management products and services.
  • Prospect for new treasury management business. Meet with prospects to explain the advantages of Alerus' products and services and effectively differentiate us from the competition.
  • Manage deposit pipeline and prospecting lists. Actively work with in market sales team to review prospecting and contact activities.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge encompassing treasury management, deposit products, and commercial services.
  • Use the FSS database to capture all customer information and new business opportunities.
  • Track and report new business goals for the assigned market(s).
  • Create and present proposals and respond to RFPs.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with sources of new business, including professional service group, city planners, chambers of commerce, and other appropriate channels.
  • Participate in community activities to enhance the position of Alerus Financial.



Job Function Number 2: Customer Management. 20%
  • Manage current customer relationships. This includes assisting in treasury relationship reviews and presentations to clients. The goal is to maintain good customer relations, expand existing business, and ensure proper servicing of accounts.
  • Use the FSS database to capture all customer information, activities, and new business opportunities.



Job Function Number 3: Commercial Services Fulfillment. 15%
  • Initiate appropriate contracts/agreements to setup commercial services for Business Online, ACH Origination, Merchant Card, Sweeps, Wire Transfers, etc.
  • Work to effectively transition customer set up and servicing to appropriate area.
  • Properly document all pricing exceptions and special handling arrangements and communicate to servicing area.



Job Function Number 4: Business Planning and other 10%
  • Participate in the annual deposit forecasting and business planning process.
  • Attend and participate in weekly treasury management or operations meetings to stay current with internal product and technology issues or changes.



Job Function Number 5: Compliance and Audit. 5%
  • Adhere to all compliance and regulatory requirements of the deposit/commercial services area.
  • Support and manage all audit requirements related to the area.
  • Participate in regulatory and compliance training as required.



Position Requirements:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years banking and/or financial product sales experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to bring new business to the bank.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated customer management skills.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • Proven interpersonal and negotiating skills.
  • Computer skills and comfort with technological complexity.
  • Prior work experience with treasury management systems and processes.

Physical Demands: (must be met with or without a reasonable accommodation)
  • Extended periods of time sitting at a desk and using office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer/laptop for approximately 8 hours per day.
  • Extended time is spent reviewing physical and electronic documents.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Periodically, may also do light lifting of supplies and materials which weighs in at approximately 20 lbs.
  • Will spend most of time in an indoor environment.
  • Requires the routine & safe operation of a motor vehicle to travel between multiple locations to perform the essential functions of the job.
