Job Details
The Director oversees and establishes long range plans and service programing for pharmacy services and is responsible for business development of pharmacy services for the integrated delivery system. The Director manages all components of the medication-process across all departments, divisions and service lines of the health system. Works closely with hospital, clinic and medical leadership, to achieve regulatory compliance and achieve long-range goals of all medication-use processes.
The position manages, develops, and oversees daily operations including achieving operating and capital budgets, coding for maximum reimbursement, appropriate billing practices and service delivery to stakeholders. Position oversees all human resource functions to include hiring, training, performance reviews and recognition and reward. Develops and champions department performance and behavioral standards and works to continually improve quality of services. Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and holds leaders and staff accountable for meeting goals. Utilizes and applies quality process improvement principles in achieving administrative responsibilities.

Develops and implements long-range goals that enhance services and support strong relational management with key stakeholders. Develops collaborative relationships with leadership, physicians, clinical, professional and support staff. Sets standards for operational performance for the division/department(s) and fiscal accountability. Develops and achieves annual financial targets and holds managers and employees accountable to budget targets.
Pharmaceuticals
Responsible for all pharmaceutical contracting, procurement, receiving, security, inventory control, diversion prevention, and distribution policies, including reverse distribution and other methods of pharmaceutical waste disposal. Ensures that the methods used to contract and obtain products are safe, cost-effective, and timely. Responsible for emergency preparedness of the supply chain.
Collaboration
Partners with department chair of P&T and is an active member of a number of key organizational committees to ensure the organization is developing processes and following evidence based standards in all processes involving medication use while meeting all regulatory and medical staff requirements. Develops collaborative relationships with physicians, clinical professional and support staff. Represents the organization in all external partnerships and pharmacy affiliations such as telepharmacy and 340b contracts.

Recruits, develops, retains and leads a talented team of leadership and staff committed to accomplishing the goals of Altru Health System. Builds an environment of shared commitment to organizational goals and fosters an environment conducive to maximizing individual and collective productivity, emphasizing performance and collaboration. Maintains competency in all organizational, department and outside agency standards relevant to services provided and ensures compliance. Manages processes to ensure all regulatory standards are met as well as works to prevent potential legal risk to Altru Health System as appropriate. Accesses internal resources to assist in adhering to standards as well as ensures staff understands expectations.
