Company
What is the current company culture like?
Expanding Horizons is a smaller Adult Foster Care company. We currently have 7 homes with a total of 27 residents located in the Duluth area. Being a smaller company allows our staff the opportunity to work with all of our residents and our staff, as well as not being lost in the shuffle.
Our current residents require low personal cares and exhibit minimal behaviors. Many of them are fairly independent.
What skills, education, and experiences does your ideal candidate(s) have?
Expanding Horizons provides all required training as well as any training that we feel is necessary for our staff to successfully care for our residents. Therefore no experience is necessary.
An ideal candidate will be able to work within a team, make decisions independently, and maintain their composure during stressful situations.
How would you describe the company leadership/team management? There are many different levels to our company. Our office staff, including our Health Care Director and Designated Manager, supervisor the houses and residents, ensuring their well-being and safety. Our House Supervisors work directly in our houses to ensure proper staffing, address staff and resident concerns, and ensure that our residents are receive the care and treatment that they need and deserve. Our most important staff members are our Residential Aides and Specialists. Our residents require 24-hour supervised care and without these staff members, we would not be able to provide the care that our residents deserve and require.
Where do you see the company/organization in the upcoming years? Expanding Horizons is constantly changing. In March of 2019, we opened our 7th house. We have also expanded to provide ILS services to some individuals. The possibilities for the future are endless. What do you feel candidates need to know about the company before applying? Due to the Coronavirus, we have had to make some changes to our hiring and training processes. Applicants will interview via phone and, if hired, will receive our new hire packet via email to be completed by the new employee and emailed back. In-person training has been cancelled until further notice but we will assign online training to be completed before we schedule shadowing within the houses.
