Position Description:
Responsible for the repair and maintenance of heating plant equipment, steam distribution system, facility and auxiliary equipment; thorough knowledge of material, methods and principles of boiler operations; including preventive maintenance, adjusting and repairing boilers, generators, pumps, conveyors and other related equipment; ability to use and operate a variety of tools & equipment required in the performance of duties: perform all phases of plant operations, including responding to after hour emergency calls for repair, power outages and storm protection; assist in the training of plant personnel, direct the activities of Heating Plant Operators on selected projects and assume the duties of the Heating Plant Maintenance Supervisor in his/her absence; fill in for shift operator when needed on a 24/7 shift rotation; this position reports to the Heating Plant Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • One year vocational or technical degree and/or five year's experience with maintenance and repairs in an industrial setting or facility.
  • One year of supervisory experience of at least two or more full time equivalent employees.
  • Mechanical skills, operate hand tools, power tools, motorize equipment and computer skills.
  • Knowledge & experience in welding, cutting, pipefitting and minor electronic control experience.
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills as well as a team player.
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Boiler operation license or certificate comparable to Minnesota Chief Grade B or higher.
