Position Description:
The Department of Communication seeks a student-oriented colleague to teach undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of journalism/digital media, broadcast, and an area of specialty. Load is two classes a semester, with expectations that the successful candidate will maintain an active research agenda in his or her area of specialty. The successful candidate will also serve as faculty liaison to the Bison Information Network ( BIN ), participate in departmental undergraduate and graduate advising, and participate in departmental, university, and professional service. The position is a full-time, nine-month faculty appointment. Faculty members must adhere to the policies outlined in the NDSU Faculty Handbook found at http://www.ndsu.edu/policy/.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in communication or related field by date of appointment.
- Demonstrable practical experience in broadcast journalism or equivalent.
- Demonstrable teaching effectiveness at the college or university level.
- Ability to teach one broadcast-specific class each semester.
- Ability to teach undergraduate journalism, convergence media, data-driven journalism or another specialty.
- Evidence of scholarly and/or professional contributions in the form of publications and/or conference presentations.
- Membership in relevant professional communication organizations/associations.
- Ability to serve as faculty liaison for the Bison Information Network.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with and/or ability to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate student levels.
- Five years' practical experience in broadcast journalism or equivalent.
- Interest in and/or experience with grant writing and acquiring funding for research and/or relevant communication activities.
- Ability to teach courses in public relations, corporate communication, risk and crisis communication, or related areas.
- Interest in and/or experience supervising or serving on graduate student thesis or dissertation committees.
- Research agenda that complements the department's research and teaching strengths.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Experience and/or interest in collaborative research.
