Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administrative Services, the Staff Accountant will manage the day-to-day activities of the Concordia Language Villages Finance office, maintain accurate general ledger account balances and financial reporting tools, and provide support to the Director of Finance & Administrative Services and CLV staff.
The primary responsibilities of this position are as follows:

Accounting
• Coordinate and monitor daily data files from sub-ledger to general ledger and review for accuracy; prepare and manage daily/monthly journal entries
• Prepare and manage account reconciliations for various balance sheet and revenue accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Prepare bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Coordinate accounting for scholarships
• Coordinate the preparation of regularly scheduled and special billings for customers
• Verify and approve refunds from the AR sub-ledger
• Assist in year-end close process
• Prepare various audit schedules and assist with the external audit
Administrative
• Supervise and direct Finance department accounting staff including Finance Assistant and student worker(s)
• Manage accounts receivable process from initial billing to collections in accordance with our stated terms and conditions for all divisions
• Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures; Support and enforce internal accounting controls
• Contribute to documented procedures and processes
• Manage and oversee village finance processes
• Provide solutions to presented issues and recommend changes
• Act as liaison to Concordia Business Office as necessary to support reconciliations and accurate sub-ledger/GL alignment
• Provide training and process guidance to staff/management
Financial Reporting
• Prepare weekly Enrollment/Revenue reports for internal use for Summer Program and Year Round Program divisions
• Define and create reports to be used in analysis and presentation of financial data to senior management
• Collaborate with outside vendors on custom reporting

Minimum Qualifications:

• Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures
• Familiarity with laws and regulations that apply to accounting and compliance
• Understanding of office practices and procedures
• PC knowledge (Word, Access, Excel)
• Knowledge of proper use of grammar/punctuation
• 4 year degree in accounting

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA
• Non-profit/Fund Accounting experience
• Valid drivers’ license
