Software Developer

Hiring Department:  UND Aerospace - Aerospace Network

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification:  $48,000+/year, fulltime, benefited, non-exempt
Benefits: Includes single or family health care coverage (premiums paid for by the university), basic life insurance, EAP, retirement plan, tuition waiver, annual and sick leave.  Optional benefits available: supplemental life, dental, vision, long-term care insurance, flexible spending account, supplemental retirement plans. 
Work Schedule:  Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide analysis, programming, technical assistance, and software documentation for the development of Aerospace's  Aviation Information Management System (AIMS).  
 

• User Interface design of web, mobile, and desktop applications
• Create attractive, user-centered designs by considering user feedback, usability, work flow, and current best practices in graphical interface design
• Use various tools to create graphical interfaces
• Define user needs, issues, and problems.
• Devise implementation strategy.
• Coordinate and communicate with other team members.  Provide timely, engaged participation in team efforts.
• Define and create test scenarios.
• Create test data sets.
• Test software.
• Modify software as necessary.
• Assure software meets end user requirements.
• End user support.
• Must be self directed, a quick learner, be adaptable/flexible, able to take direction, and follow instructions.
• Must be organized and have attention to detail.

Required Competencies:
 

• Ability to work independently and manage time wisely.
• Good communications and interpersonal skills.

Minimum Requirements:
 

• B.S. in Computer Science or Information Technology, or 5 years programming experience and significant progress towards degree (continued pursuite of degree expected).
• 2+ years experience in software development.
• Experience designing user interface for desktop, web, or mobile applications.
• Database programming experience.
• SQL, .Net, Visual Stuido, HTML, & Javascript experience.
• Successful completion of Criminal History Background Check.

Preferred Qualifications:
 

• Software documentation experience.
• Experience with AIMS.
• Experience with Aerospace.
• Experience developing multi-user, enterprise level, software solutions.
