Job Summary

The Vice President (VP) Audit, Reimbursement and Recoupment directs, leads and manages all audit activities for the organization. This position develops the operational strategy to meet current and future needs of the organization.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Plans and executes the Audit, Reimbursement, and Recoupment department's organization strategy, coordinates resources, and develops and evaluates work of assigned staff with responsibility for hiring, firing, disciplining, and performing performance appraisals and pay reviews.
  • Leads organizational effectiveness, driving change, talent development at all levels with the Provider Audit, Reimbursement, and Recoupment teams, employee engagement, acquisition integration, and cultural transformation.
  • Directs business unit/area with responsibility for strategy development, negotiating contracts, resource allocation including budget and personnel, including acting as a member of the organizations leadership team and a key contributor to strategy and operational planning.
  • Maintains strong business acumen and ability to translate business strategies into actionable items with current contracts and/or for potential new business.
  • Provides accurate data and metrics for decision making related to audit functions.
  • Manages a complex set of interrelated Provider Audit, Reimbursement, and Recoupment activities involving internal and external stakeholders to meet strategic goals and ensure the organization's programs/services are market competitive and adherent to compliance regulations.
  • Ensures compliance standards are achieved and retained for accreditation, billing, and licensing standards.
  • Maintains and enhances network performance to meet and exceed access, quality and financial goals.
  • Improves organization performance through ongoing education and coaching of employees.
  • Builds and maintains positive business relationships with key employee, management, community, professional and vendor groups, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and other Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs) and entities with similar functions.
  • Coordinates resources and strategizes methods that enhance the organization's efficiency in Audit and Reimbursement functions to ensure the organization's cost competitiveness while ensuring quality.
  • Supports the development of annual departmental, corporate planning, and budget process by coordinating and communicating an understanding of the external healthcare environment.
  • Provides leadership, development, and administrative management for organization.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Business with an accounting emphasis
  • 10 years' experience in Medicare Cost Reporting
  • 5 years' experience in a senior leadership role
  • Familiar with HIPAA regulations
  • Highly motivated and skilled professional and ability assemble, lead, and motivate a team of professionals who are capable of producing and improving results
  • Audit and reimbursement leader with broad experience as a business partner, leading organizational effectiveness, driving change, talent development, employee engagement, and cultural transformation
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate business strategies into actionable strategies
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or CPA
