Structural Engineer - Grand Forks, Fargo, Bismarck, or Maple Grove

The Structural Engineer is responsible for working closely with other structural group staff, project managers, and directly with clients to perform structural engineering analysis and design documents. 

  • Potential Locations:  Grand Forks, ND; Fargo, ND; Bismarck, ND; or Maple Grove, MN

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ​Provide professional services for a wide variety of projects including: municipal construction, commercial buildings, water-related infrastructure, industrial facilities, and forensic engineering
  • Use established CADD standards to complete design drafting of electronic drawings from marked-up plans and/or verbal instruction by other engineers
  • Services to include project development, final design, construction administration, and authoring of related project specifications
  • Design structural systems utilizing combinations of structural steel, steel joists, concrete (reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete), masonry, wood, and light gauge steel
  • Design deep and shallow foundation systems in a variety of geologic conditions, including collapsible soils and expansive soils
  • Perform structural design of water and waste water treatment facilities, including water tight structures
  • Lead specific tasks of large projects and management of smaller projects
  • Assist the Structural Division Manager in identifying, evaluating, pursuing, and managing project opportunities
  • Maintain existing client relationships and actively pursue relationships with new clients
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance on all project work
  • Maintain budgets and schedules of project assignments
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and attend internal and external meetings

​Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in civil engineering or related field
  • Fundamentals of Engineering/EIT designation or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 1-2 years of progressive experience in structural engineering focused projects
  • Direct experience with vertical building or facility design and construction
  • Demonstrated experience using Revit
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with structural analysis programs
  • Ability to travel as required for project/client responsibilities and business development
  • Ability to work remotely and manage projects, clients, and project team members

  Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in structural engineering or related field
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in primary state of residence or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 2+ years of experience in managing, developing, designing and authoring structural engineering projects
  • Knowledge of regional design standards, seismic design and detailing, construction practices, and geologic concerns
  • Skilled in business development and demonstrated success cultivating long-term client relationships
  • Demonstrated success in project management
  • Knowledge of project financials
