JOB SUMMARY
Provides health education through Sanford Health sponsored and coordinated community classes. Knowledge of and use of appropriate age-related protocols relating to the physical and psychological needs of identified populations. Coordinates specific course logistics and objectives pertinent to subject matter. The Community Life Educator establishes, strengthens, and maintains community relationships and partnerships. Must be able to work effectively with groups and communicate with individuals and groups. Must have experience in adult learning and learning styles, or as appropriate to developmental stage of participant. Experience in teaching and facilitation of groups essential.
Hours - 4 - 8 per month total.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and present health education and promotion programs, such as training workshops, conferences, and school or community presentations. Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures. Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs, abilities, and interests. Assists in designing adult learning programs for a specific group of people. Reports difficulties and problems that occur in the adult learning process. Creates a knowledge sharing environment throughout all departments to enhance the outcomes of adult learning. Delivers written and oral communication, responds to questions and concerns, and produce specific outcomes and impact. Consults with different divisions within the organization to customize learning objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/licensure as appropriate and/or required by course content. When applicable, may need a valid driver's license. If valid driver's license is required, must maintain a good driving record. Associates Degree preferred. Area of focus in Public Health, Education, Health Care or related field preferred.
