Financial/Benefits/Compliance Manager Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented, thorough, and organized individual to join our team. In this position, you will play a key role in managing the finances of our business, including creating financial transactions and generating relevant reports. You will also collaborate and communicate with employees, vendors, and customers to ensure accuracy of financial transactions. Manage benefit programs and governmental compliance requirements. Generally oversee day to day office functions.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general bookkeeping and financial duties, including posting information to accounting software and regularly reconciling accounts.
- Assign cost codes and enter estimated costs for projects
- Pay debts as they come due for payment, including necessary bills as well as supplier and vendor invoices. Assure project materials are being billed according to prices quoted.
- Be a backup for the payroll clerk
- Take all discounts on supplier invoices
- Purchase supplies and equipment as authorized by management
- Monitor office supply levels and reorder as necessary
- Obtain necessary tax forms from new vendors.
- Maintain cash flow report to track bank balance
- Perform reconciliations of bank accounts on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy.
- Manager certified payroll submissions
- Make deposits and record all cash receipts.
- Distribute customer invoices and ensure that receivables are collected in a timely manner.
- Provide information to the external accountant who creates the company’s financial statements
- Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit
- Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements
- Prepare payroll quarterly and year end reports
- Maintain an organized and streamlined accounting system.
- Provide administrative support to management when required.
Requirements and Qualifications
- The candidate should have an Associate’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience. Preference will be given to candidates with a working knowledge of The Construction Manager accounting software package. Construction background helpful.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles.
- Experience with accounting software.
- Data entry.
- Keen attention to detail and ability to keep records and files organized.
- Strong time manager with respect for deadlines.
- Ability to identify errors and solve problems.
- Decisive and critical thinker.
