The Senior Software Developer will design, code, test and analyze software programs and applications.  This includes researching, designing, documenting and modifying software specifications throughout the SDLC.  This role will operate as a lead developer on enterprise wide applications and demonstrate leadership skills through consistent mentoring of teammates, while driving technical direction.  Senior Developers review incoming issues and participate in project planning and team assignments, as well as technology decisions and design goals.  This role strongly influences the direction of the team and is constantly looking for ways to improve processes.



Specific Duties Include: 
• Improves operations by conducting systems analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures.
• Work to enhance existing algorithms, data and technical designs, as well as frameworks.
• Work with Software Architect to design Enterprise wide applications utilizing technologies based on cloud, IoT, digital transformation, while demonstrating technology leadership across the organization and evangelizing our product direction.
• Responsible for initial design and development of new software or extensive software revisions; products may be for used internally and for sale commercially.
• Enhance and grow the Development Team through technical leadership, while participating in recruiting and interviewing candidates to drive positive Team dynamics to deliver on product vision.
• Take the lead on enterprise projects and participate in designing architecture on all group products.
• Experience developing highly scalable applications on mobile and web platforms.
• Lead in reviewing incoming customer requests and bug reports and dispatch / schedule according to criticality and priority.
• Role is expected to utilize learning opportunities to enhance knowledge on leading edge development tools, programming techniques, and computing methodologies; participating in educational opportunities offered as part of the position; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations, while sharing learning with the Team and Company Leadership.
• Communicate effectively with Business Analysts and customers in a trustworthy manner to gain understanding of the customer needs and processes to best deliver solutions solving business and technology requirements.
• Develops software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook. 
• Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of R.D. Offutt Company.
• Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
• Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
• Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

Job Requirements: 
• College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science or software engineering, and 7 years equivalent work experience
• Understand the SDLC
• Possess a good understanding of object-oriented design and component architecture
• Expert in Microsoft .NET and Microsoft SQL
• Experience working in and leading in a team programming environment
• Extremely proficient in troubleshooting code and applications
• Ability to describe multiple significant projects as a developer, as well as projects as a technical leader
• Highly logical with a keen attention to detail
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies and methodologies.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills and strong team player attitude 
• Self-motivated
• Ability to solve problems without supervision
• Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship

Qualifications Education

Required

Bachelors or better in Computer Science or related field.

 

Experience

Preferred

7 years: Equivelant work experience
