JOB SUMMARY
Performs clerical and secretarial duties and adhering to file management policies and procedures of the healthcare facility. Maintains strict confidentiality according to healthcare organization and regulatory agency requirements, such as HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). Works with computer-based document retrieval system of a healthcare facility to locate, print and deliver document and images as requested. Assists with answering telephones, filing, photocopying, image management, faxing, sorting mail, distributing reports, etc. May assist with patient needs. Some in this role will maintain schedules and/or make appointments for the department.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Takes personal ownership of and strives to meet assigned accountability expectations. Demonstrates open, friendly, accepting, and supportive behaviors with team members. Strives to complete assignments according to established quality measures. Use computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing. Answer telephones and give information to callers, take messages, or transfer calls to appropriate individuals. Works with all basic office support products. Ensures proper protection of organization's confidential information. Create, maintain, and enter information into databases. Set up and manage paper or electronic filing systems, recording information, updating paperwork, or maintaining documents, such as attendance records, correspondence, or other material. Operate office equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, or phone systems and arrange for repairs when equipment malfunctions.
QUALIFICATIONS
BLS Certification is required every 2 years, dependent upon location. Attending High School (dependent upon location) or have a High School diploma or GED is required. Experience in an office and/or medical setting preferred.
