MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in the field of healthcare or relevant business field, such as an MBA, MHA, MPA, and three or more years of direct experience in health care administration (preferred) or management (considered), and knowledge of long-term care.

The candidate should possess effective communication skills; the ability to relate complex concepts to diverse audiences; ability to read, write and understand English, possess a demonstrated cultural competency, and a commitment to an experiential education philosophy within the scope of the land grant mission. Final job offer contingent upon receipt of official transcripts, complete background check, and authorization to work in the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Five years of experience in health care administration and nursing home licensure; teaching experience in an academic institution; industry experience; experience or track-record of seeking and successful implementing externally funded projects and grants; and experience with online education.

 

About the Job

   

POSITION: The position of Lecturer/Program Director for the Health Management programs at the University of Minnesota Crookston is a full-time, 12-month, annual renewable position starting January 7, 2019.  This position involves teaching primarily online courses and providing leadership within the program, both during the academic year as well as the summer months.  The normal teaching load for this position is 12 credits per semester during the academic year, with supplemental salary for summer teaching.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Deliver high-quality online instruction to undergraduate students in the Health Management (B.S) and Bachelor of Applied Health (B.A.H.) programs. This position will lead the development of program goals and objectives; assessment of activities and pedagogy of the programs; advise students; contribute to student recruitment and retention initiatives; and support research and community outreach in health management. The responsibilities also include developing and maintaining strong ties to the health care industry to benefit our programs, student experience and student employment opportunities. Service to the Department, University and/or community is also expected.  The position requires regular office hours and engagement in service activities on the University of Minnesota Crookston campus.  The Program Director position manages appropriate accreditation efforts, assists in recruitment of faculty, manages internships, coordinates and leads the Program Improvement Advisory Committee, leads curriculum development, and attends various campus meetings and committees as a representation of the program. The two programs to be led by this position are Health Management (B.S.) and Bachelor of Applied Health (B.A.H.) programs, which are made up of approximately 200 students.
