Position Description:
The Assistant Professor position is a tenure-track, 9-month, full-time, benefited faculty position that is renewable annually. Teaching responsibilities include a lecture or seminar course, and a design studio, each semester. The pursuit and accomplishment of research and creative activities in a focused area in Architecture is also required. Faculty members are also required to participate in program administration regarding the curriculum and course offerings, attend faculty meetings, and advise students in their design thesis projects. In addition, service to the department, college, university and the profession is expected. The appointment will start in August 2019.

The Architecture program is fully accredited by the NAAB , with the accreditation term extending until 2026.

About the Department: The NDSU Department Architecture and Landscape Architecture is located in two renovated buildings in downtown Fargo; Klai Hall and Renaissance Hall. Our facilities include the Klai Juba Wald Architectural Studies Library and state-of-the-art technology that includes two computer labs and plotting, 3D printing and CNC fabrication, and a woodshop. We celebrated our 100-year anniversary in 2014. Our alumni have become design leaders in firms throughout the country; several members of the Large Firm Round Table ( LFRT ) are NDSU graduates, as well as being principals of award-winning design firms. Fargo is the center of a metropolitan area of 230,000 people, with a vibrant arts and community culture. It is a remarkable economic engine with an exciting lifestyle and sense of community.

Minimum Qualifications:
• First professional degree in Architecture.
• A Master's degree in Architecture, or closely related discipline, plus:
o Professional licensure in Architecture in the United States or certification as a broadly experienced foreign architect ( BEFA ) by NCARB , OR
o A doctorate in Architecture, or closely related discipline.
• Excellent oral, verbal and graphical communication skills.
• Design skills that must include computer-based methods. The ability to integrate these methods into coursework and research is required.
• Skills in teaching courses related to the Building Sciences in Architecture, preferably in areas related to the candidate's research, such as building materials and methods of construction, structural systems in architecture, building systems integration, and performance simulation in architecture, as some examples.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Studio teaching experience in an accredited Architecture degree program.
• 5 years of experience in professional practice.
• Experience in collaborating with diverse groups on creative or scholarly work.
• Individual or collaborative award-winning creative or scholarly work.
