Position Overview


The Supervisor, Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing and developing individual staff members. This position assists in the planning, developing and implementation of new and revised Maintenance Technician programs, policies and procedures in order to be responsive to the company's goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for assuring thorough audits, reports and connection with the team and the business that company's Maintenance Technician programs are consistently administered in compliance with company policies and government regulations. This role will also review content needs, develop, format and publish documentation that supports the PDC Innovation efforts. Documents include but are not limited to: procedures, work instructions and reports .

Responsibilities
Must Be Able To...
  • Supervise and provide work direction to the daily activities of employees
  • Make decisions guided by policies, procedures, business plans and past business experience
  • Receive oversight from next level Manager
  • Perform or understand the work supervised and supervise entire team as needed
  • Has formal supervisory responsibilities; sets priorities for and coaches employees to meet daily deadlines and departmental KPIs. Creates and maintains appropriate employee documentation, escalating performance/disciplinary action (i.e. policy violations) as needed
  • Build partnerships with other areas in the organization to ensure understanding of business strategies and impact to Maintenance Technicians and vice versa
  • Able to perform root cause analysis on trending issues or events; collect, research & understand data & provide recommendations for mitigation of issues|events
  • Engage regularly & appropriately with key customers & suppliers as well as employees to maintain strong relationships and an understanding of internal & external factors impacting the business
  • Manage team & personal workload; defining, communicating & executing (as needed) deliverables & their timelines to achieve business objectives & departmental KPIs
  • Lead, plan and organize team staff meetings. Provide business and team updates. Ensure that action items are completed in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for employee development (e.g. hard or soft skill) to ensure industry and corporate standards are met; partner with HR to develop and organize development activities
  • Work closely with Human Resources (HR) in regards to employee relations related issues
  • Monitor and evaluate area specific performance dashboards and reports
Position Specific Info:
  • Responsible for training all new and current Maintenance Technicians
  • Detect need for, schedule, and conduct project status meetings to ensure progress of department functions and goals
  • Develop accurate and complete information in a variety of formats (e.g. Process and Procedure manuals and workflow diagrams (using Visio), fact sheets, FAQs, etc.)
  • Capture|describe complex processes in clear English for end-users, who may have a variety of experience levels
  • Follow style standards for Process and Procedure manuals and revise as necessary. Ensure writing style of documentation is simple, clear, concise, grammatically correct, and written for the intended audience and achieves compliance with legal requirements, regulatory mandates and performance standards
  • Contribute to the layout and design of the document
  • Responsible for all aspects of the document, or be part of a team and need to perform duties reliably to get the project completed on time
  • Revise existing documentation based on process and procedure changes resulting from system enhancements, industry rule changes, business/operational changes, etc.
  • Maintain manual source material in organized manner with revision control. Maintains historical records and files of work and revisions in a policy and procedure library
  • Work with various business partners to determine specific requirements for process/procedures and additional process resource tools
  • Meets with assigned stakeholders and interview subject matter experts to gain a thorough understanding of the business unit's goals and operational procedures
  • Author controlled documentation within the documentation system
  • Create and maintain bills of materials
  • Schedule ordering of production materials
  • Manage periodic review activities to support production schedules
  • Lead/Participate within review sessions with internal partners to provide comment and improvement recommendations.
  • Assist in communicating business updates
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Minimum/Essential Qualifications:
  • Two-Year Degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Mechanics, Technology or equivalent preferred and/or comparable work experience in the areas of electronic technology or related field
  • 1st time management position
  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, understand and action off of statistical data for the department and company
  • Strong understanding of the various functions of Digi-Key and the industry Digi-Key operates in
  • Strong knowledge of Digi-Key brand and its principles
  • Works well in cross functional teams
  • Demonstrable knowledge and thorough understanding of electronic assemblies, construction, and testing techniques
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with Solid Works including assemblies and BOMs
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) or similar data storage
  • Experience with manufacturing and design process (ex. design to production)
  • Able to twist or bend and occasionally climb stairs
  • Able to reach with hands and arms above shoulder level
  • Capable of spending 8-10 hours walking/standing on concrete
  • Capable of lifting up to 50lbs. from floor to shoulder height
  • Generally, spend the workday sitting at a workstation and operating computer devices, such as, but not limited to keyboard, mouse and screen
  • Generally, spend the workday performing repetitive motions that involve or affect the hands, head, and other parts of your body
  • Must be able to demonstrate the following behavioral competencies; communication, developing others, integrity, interpersonal effectiveness, leading courageously, learning orientation, managing execution, organizational awareness, problem solving & analysis, resilience, and strategic awareness
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Digi-Key Applications Engineering, supplier management, technical sales, technical marketing or other relevant work experience
  • Previous supervisor experience
