Job Summary

The Contract Specialist is responsible for coordinating the contract administration and program management activities and processes. This position guides contract activities by establishing and maintaining strong relations with all levels of officials of external entities and ensuring thorough, accurate, and timely communication with all involved parties.

Essential Functions

Key Duties/Responsibilities/Accountabilities
  • Serves as a liaison with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Acquisition and Grants Management (OAGM), Medical Case Management Group (MCMG) and other outside agencies.
  • Conducts research and analysis on complex customer inquiries and scenarios, develops recommendations, and advocates for an appropriate course of action.
  • Serves as central point of contact for the Contract Project Manager and internal departments to coordinate and facilitate action on issues needing to be addressed.
  • Serves as central point of contact for all internal departments in facilitating contract drafts, modifications and requirements.
  • Compiles, drafts, and edits information to complete monthly and annual performance reports to maximize the award fee and establish superior past performance.
  • Continuously monitors various organizational, contractual, and regulatory requirements to ensure they are met and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Answers internal and external customer questions accurately and timely.
  • Maintains contract repository and related files.
  • Maintains data for innovations, workloads, award fees, contract requirements, and related analysis.
  • Assists with proposal development/RFP responses.

Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field plus 3 years' related experience or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2 years' experience in Medicare or Medicaid
  • Experience in government contracting
  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations

  • Office Environment
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, keyboard, reason, communicate effectively and problem solve
  • Requires prolonged sitting and telephone usage
  • Requires the use of office equipment such as computer terminals, telephones, copiers and printers
  • Infrequent lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Infrequent stooping
