Accommodation Specialist

This position is responsible for coordinating disability services and ensuring equal access for students with disabilities. The Accommodation Specialist reports to the Dean of Students. Work schedule is 765 hours scheduled over 38 weeks/year and requires flexibility to meet student demand.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minor or 20 semester credits in special education, rehabilitation, speech pathology, or other related field.
• Previous work experience involving provision of direct accommodation services to students, including but not limited to: seating, positioning, augmentative/alternative communications, keyboard emulation, and assistive technologies.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding disability services in post-secondary education.
• Knowledge of services available for students with disabilities in a post-secondary environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse economic, social, racial, and ethnic background.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
