Candidate will be Transit Driver for Social Services Dept, and Transit Program/Heartland Express, $15.8995/hour, variable hrs as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
* High school graduate or equivalent.
* Valid Class C commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger transport endorsement and medical card (M.S. 221.031, Subd. 3a, as amended).
* Successful completion of a Child Protection Background Check (M.S. 299C.60 - 299C.64, as amended) and Predatory Offender Registration Check, all contingent upon a job offer.
* Successfully pass a pre-placement screen, contingent upon a job offer.
* Successfully pass a pre-placement controlled substance test (under the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing law) and completion of Release of Information 49 CFR Part 40 (40.25, as amended), contingent upon a job offer. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge:
* Laws and regulations relating to the operation of vehicle within the State of MN.
* Area of operation and familiarity with roads and highways.

Skills:
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County staff, community officials, the public, and other agency staff.
* Communicate effectively orally and written.

Abilities:
* Ability and willingness to work a flexible work schedule.
* Operate vehicle safe and efficient.
* Understand and carry out simple instructions and arithmetic computations.
* Work well with others; ability and willingness to follow rules and procedures and follow directives from supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Work experience as a transit driver or school bus driver.
* Education (must attach transcript) and/or work experience with personal computers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
FREQUENCY:
* Operative transit bus.
* Perform bus safety pre-check and post-check daily logs according to federal law.
* Monitor receipt of cash fares and passes.
* Complete daily records with regard to vehicle, passengers, fuel use, mileage, and fares.
* Track and ensure maintenance of vehicles, garage facility, and wash bay.
* Schedule repairs and maintenance of fleet, garage facility, and wash bay.
* Assist passengers as needed (i.e. into and out of vehicle, wheelchair lift).
* Maintain list of children riding and ensure they arrive safe at the correct location and punch card usage.
