You’re a self-starter who can take initiative, work independently and know how to envision, define and own the complete lifecycle of complex, multi-tiered software products. You have experience managing multiple products at the same time, and with minimal oversight. You have a strong track record of balancing innovation, customer adoption, business, performance, scale, and quality.

You possess self-drive to keep products moving forward by eliminating ambiguity, avoiding “analysis paralysis” and removing blockers, and you’ve strong logical reasoning and analytical skills, and ability to work well within a team-oriented environment or individually.

You also know that best practices and documentation are very important to optimize communication between developers, stakeholders and customers. You have the ability to write well, and communicate complex requirements simply and convincingly to a wide range of technical and non-technical audiences.

There is never a detail or part of a project you’re not willing to take a deeper dive into to increase the understanding for others and yourself. You are able to focus in on the unsaid ideas that come from brainstorming and discovery sessions and ensure they are communicated and discussed diplomatically. Meeting committed product requirements and features, as well as deadlines are important to you and you’re capable of making them meaningful to others with an empathetic and smooth demeanor.

The Digital Product Manager at Forum Communications is a vital role that is central to the success of the company. Product managers are product owners and manage and own the complete product life-cycle. You must be able to manage the software product life-cycle, collaborate, communicate status, manage ambiguity and risks, be able to go dive deep and apply critical thinking, and deliver results. As a product manager you are ultimately responsible for the product’s completeness and success, and are required to perform the following tasks:

  • Build and own the product roadmap and timelines that touches the business, engineering, marketing, and back-office systems.
  • Evaluate market competition and position the product line so that it appeals to consumers.
  • Manage the entire product life cycle, including product vision, business case and approval, approval from the executive team, product planning, product status, and product success KPIs.
  • Act as the frontline for the product and field questions from internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage with Customers, Sales, Marketing, and User Research to conduct in-depth research to understand the strategic procurement needs of our customers
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and the engineering teams to drive the product roadmaps, by defining and capturing the product requirements and needs, and working with teams across editorial, sales, marketing and development.
  • Collaborate with partner teams and technical managers to move from vision to delivery, by launching a steady stream of feature improvements and new products
  • Capture requirements by writing product-level requirements, and writing Epics and User stories
  • Leverage data-driven insights and industry trends to identify the right strategy and solutions that will delight the business customer buying experience
  • Direct, create, and execute product plans to deliver new features, pricing, adoption programs, customer surveys, partner engagements, 'how to' guides, and technical documentation
  • Define the business requirements, customer experience priorities and build UX with our design team
  • Establish and maintain a well-defined and well-communicated product-level schedule
  • Working with the project and development managers, anticipate and make tradeoffs in addition to balancing the business needs versus technical constraints
  • Work with project manager and development team on the execution, and delivery
  • Participate on agile software development meetings such daily stand-ups, retrospectives, working with and ensuring the team is aligned, blockers are addressed, next steps are clear, and the project is on track
  • Address product-level roadblocks. Resolve or escalate issues promptly to minimize impact to timeline, quality, and budget
  • Manage risks and mitigations; anticipate problems
  • Drive project to completion on-time and high-quality
  • Engage with our multi-regional teams to enable the launch of new regions and marketplaces.
  • Develop relationships and trust with product and project team members, and the stakeholders
  • Working with stakeholders, ensure products are well defined, all requirements are clear and captured, and ensure there is no ambiguity with the product or products and all related deliverables
  • As Product owner you make yourself available regularly and consistently to stakeholders and developers, to clarify and remove ambiguity and blockers
  • Work with the development teams to design, build, integrate, deliver and socialize software development projects
  • Proactively communicate project information, status, milestones, risks and obstacles to all key stakeholders on a weekly basis
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations: perform research, find, present and implement process, tools, and organization improvements
  • Provide assistance with recruiting activities and administrative work

Requirements:

  • Experience in product management, managing complex, multi-tier products
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with project management software E.g. Jira, Trello, Redmine
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets such as Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and meet demanding deadlines
  • Ability to communicate structured and top-down effectively both orally and in writing
  • Excellent stakeholder/client-facing communication skills
  • Prior experience defining and managing software project KPIs
  • Ability to perform with minimal oversight
  • Strong numerical skills and a data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • Sharp analytical abilities and proven design skills
  • Strong desire to learn or a current knowledge of web and mobile application development processes and how to support it
  • Demonstrable teamwork skills and resourcefulness
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
  • Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.
